Our Class Studio Classes

Our program runs Fall through Spring, Summer Camps, and mini sessions throughout the year. No previous dance experience is needed, we have classes for all levels, beginner through advanced. We offer quality professional dance training to children ages 2.5 through adults. All little one's must be fully potty trained to begin our program. We have created a wonderful schedule which offers lessons mornings, evenings and weekends. We have lesson packages available for siblings and affordable payments plans. Our Sessions culminate with an Annual Dance Recital and Awards Ceremony. All youth students must purchase a uniform from Living Arts to ensure that students are dressed in the appropriate dance attire. For adults we provide dance classes for all levels, whether you have always had a love of dance or looking for a great fun way to get in shape and dance away the pounds. Adults may wear comfortable workout attire for classes. We are so excited about this new season and invite you to share it with us! Contact Us for our most recent schedule of dance classes!

Hip-hop refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking, and popping which were created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States. The television show Soul Train and the 1980s films Breakin', Beat Street, and Wild Style showcased these crews and dance styles in their early stages; therefore, giving hip-hop mainstream exposure. The dance industry responded with a commercial, studio-based version of hip-hop—sometimes called "new style"—and a hip-hop influenced style of jazz dance called "jazz-funk". Classically trained dancers developed these studio styles in order to choreograph from the hip-hop dances that were performed on the street. Because of this development, hip-hop dance is practiced in both dance studios and outdoor spaces.

The dance technique emphasizes a whole body, anatomical approach to dance that includes flexibility, strength, coordination and body spatial awareness to enable unrestricted, dramatic freedom of expression. Lester Horton developed his own approach to dance that incorporated diverse elements including Native American Folk Dance, Japanese arm gestures, Javanese and Balinese isolations for the upper body, particularly the eyes, head and hands. Horton also included Afro-Caribbean elements, like hip circles.
